NPL Maker Hub Agreement

Welcome to the Newmarket Public Library's Maker Hub. You are now trained to use the 3D printer. Please review and sign off on the following and you will be able to start using the Maker Hub!

If you do not have a library card, you can get one for free! Please visit our membership page for more information on getting a library card at NPL.

Maker Hub Guidelines

  1. Users must be trained before they are allowed to use the 3D printer or the vinyl cutter by themselves.
  2. Users must have a valid NPL library card. Get a library card here.
  3. Users must follow the library's Code of Conduct policy.
  4. Users may drop in during Maker Hub hours, or make reservations to use the 3D printer or vinyl cutter.
  5. Users must check in with staff each time they use the Maker Hub.
  6. Users must be in grade 7 or older.
  7. Users are responsible for saving their projects. The library is not responsible for files left on library computers.
  8. Users must follow safety procedures and tell library staff if equipment is unsafe/needs repair. Users will report all accidents or near-misses.
  9. Users will not make anything that creates functional weapons, an obscenity that interferes with others' enjoyment of the library, hate speech, or anything that violates Canadian law.
  10. When using the 3D printer, a user must stay with their project for the first 20 minutes of active printing.
  11. Users are responsible for monitoring their projects and making corrections if failure is detected. If users are not present, then library staff will stop failing projects to avoid damaging equipment.
  12. Users will be charged a fee to recover the cost of materials used.
  13. If a print fails, the user can adjust their print file and try again at no cost. If there is no time to print in the same timeslot, a credit will be applied to the account for future prints.
  14. An extra fee will be charged to the user for projects that are made entirely by library staff for the user at the user's request.
